Glasgow City has a rich and diverse history and a very much a modern culture hub and quite rightly so, Glasgow holds many attractions and can cater for and peak most people’s interests in some form or another. I found Glasgow a fantastic City to visit and the local people so welcoming, proud and keen to help in any situation. Everyone we spoke to had a story to tell about the diverse history of this major Scottish City.
Situated on the great river Clyde in Scotland’s west Central lowlands, in fact the 5th most visited City within the United Kingdom. The slang word for the City’s folk is “Glaswegians” and their accents can be tricky at first to understand for an outsider. Glasgow started off as a small rural settlement, only to become the biggest seaport in Scotland. The Industrial revolution exploded the economy and area to become a rich hub for chemicals, engineering, textiles but most noted for ship building, some very famous ships were constructed on the banks of the Clyde. Glasgow holds it's own with architecture and has some really pleasing Victorian buildings and Art nouveau, as well as some modern delights to behold.
Here is a small list of special places i think you might like within this magnificent City.
